ABOUT LOWER HURST FARM ORGANIC

Lower Hurst Farm Organic was founded in 2007 after Lower Hurst Farm approached Derbyshire County Council to explore the possibility of providing local schools with their locally produced organic meat. The council were interested in the idea but could only award a contract to supply all the schools in the county. Lower Hurst Farm is not a large enough farm to meet this demand, so we began to look for other local organic producers to provide the extra meat we would need to produce enough for one meal across the county in every Primary School every 3 weeks. This has been possible through ABP Limited, who buy organic cattle from registered organic farmers like Lower Hurst Farm. Lower Hurst Farm provides around 15% of the meat used in the products we sell to Derbyshire and Cheshire County Council, and the remainder comes through ABP. Every time we receive a delivery from ABP they provide a list of the farmers who have provided the meat in that delivery.

The products we provide to Derbyshire and Cheshire schools are made at the farm in our state-of-the-art plant in a converted barn. Our products are made with 100% organic ingredients. The only ingredients in our meatballs are beef, onions, breadcrumbs, parsley, basil, salt, pepper, and water. The only ingredients in our beef burgers are beef, onion, parsley, pepper, and salt.
